Having just become certified in functional medicine through IFM (at the time of taking the course), I was looking for a practical implementation of the principles of functional medicine. Allow me to start with:  WOW.  I was first impressed with Dr. Julie Greenberg when listening to her speak on a Webinar for Diagnostic Solutions on Eczema and Gut health.  It was so informative that when she mentioned she would be teaching a course, I contacted her right away and signed up.
This course has TRULY made me a better, more skilled Registered Dietitian and overall health practitioner.  I am looking at all my Functional Testing (GI MAP, DUTCH, OAT, Mycotoxin) tests results with a refined eye, which means I can assist my clients with additional skill.  I am asking additional questions on intakes (i.e. oral care and mold exposures) which provide me with added client detail necessary to treat the root cause of their skin and GI issues.  I am also spelling out plans more carefully to ensure compliance.

The Root Cause Functional Dermatology course by Dr. Greenberg was great. The first part of the course covered fundamental functional dermatology testing and general treatment and then went into 7 specific topics. These included the pathophysiology of the dermatologic topic, conventional treatment, the functional approach treatment and 5 cases on each topic. I have a very good understanding of the disease pathology and both the how and why of treating in a functional manner. Dr. Greenberg used cases that were both straight forward and more complicated ones so we saw how she dealt with the ups and downs. She shared in detail her treatment plans, specific products, where to get them and how to dose them. I am coming away from the course feeling confident that I can start treating these conditions and excited to help people on their healing journey.

This course was the most helpful functional medicine course I have ever taken. It provided in-depth and actionable information throughout the entire course covering work-up and treatment options as an overview and in the form of case reviews. You may be hesitant to take the course like I was because it does not provide CEs. However, after completing the course I have to say it is worth it given the breadth and detail of the information provided. I cannot say enough how valuable the information is but here is a list of the things I found most valuable: tips for running a Telehealth based practice, how to read several functional medicine labs and how to treat various results (as well as the specific labs Dr. Greenberg runs and why she has chosen those companies to run the labs), when to order additional labs, various treatment plans with specific products and dosages (as well as discussion around why Dr. Greenberg uses them over others), case reviews that shows how to adjust treatment plans based on patient responses and so much more.
